Soror Emma Turner Wins Re-election & Retains State and National Positions
San Diego, CA Epsilon Xi Omega Chapter member Soror Emma Turner was the number 1 winner in a race for two of five seats on the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District Board of Education (in East San Diego, California) during general election on November 8, 2016. In her bid for re-election, incumbent Emma Turner ran against a former school board member and two other challengers. Because she won re-election to the local school board, Soror Emma will retain several leadership roles in local, state and national education. Soror Emma Turner will continue as Board of Director for the California School Board Association and Board of Director for the National School Board Association. She will also retain her position of Chair of the National Black Council, advocating for the educational needs of African American and all K-12 public education students in the nation. During their December board meeting, the trustees elected Soror Emma as President of the La Mesa- Spring Valley School Board for 2017.
